E-retail is estimated to grow to £126 billion in the year 2016
The Christmas shopping period, which is
between 01-Nov to 26-Dec, recorded a solid £ 24.40 billion spent online an
increase of 12% over the previous year. More significantly, m-retail or those
purchases made on mobile devices has increased 42% over the previous year. 45%
of all online purchases were made via mobile devices in the 3rd quarter
(Aug-Oct).

leaders in retail:
Mark Felix: - Director
of Retail sales -- ".......... Online accounted for 40% of sales over
the Christmas period and mobile continued to be our fastest-growing channel,
with sales from smartphones and tablets up over a third"
Nigel Oddy:
CEO House of Fraser -- “......This
year, we saw a very strong start to the key Christmas season with Black Friday
being particularly strong online, with sales up 40% on the year – our biggest
online day ever.
Michael Durbridge,
Director of Omni-Channel, B&Q -- "......Over the end of November / December period,
sales were higher than expected online with 31% growth year on year. We saw a
significant increase in the use of our Click & Collect service which
accounted for half of the sales increase. This was particularly prominent in
the week before Christmas and the week after Christmas"
